Overview
The Work Order Re-Assignment feature allows mobile users to reassign work orders that are assigned to them to other users at the same site. This aligns mobile capabilities with the web interface, giving field engineers the flexibility to redirect work when needed.
Purpose
Sometimes a work order assigned to you cannot be completed—you may lack the required skills, equipment, or availability. Rather than leaving the work order stuck, you can now reassign it directly from your mobile device to another qualified team member, ensuring work continues to flow without requiring web access or supervisor intervention.
How it works
When viewing a work order assigned to you, a Re-Assign Work button appears alongside the standard Start/Stop controls. Tapping this button opens the Assign To page, which displays a list of users at your site who can receive the work order. After selecting a user and confirming, the work order is removed from your work list and transferred to the selected user.
If you have already started the work order (it's in-progress), you will need to scan a QR code to mark your location before the Assign To page appears. This ensures proper tracking of where work was performed before reassignment.
Steps to use
Reassigning a work order (not yet started)
Open your Work List in the Transcendent Mobile app
Tap on a work order that is assigned to you
Tap the Re-Assign Work button (located alongside Start/Stop controls)
Select the user you want to assign the work order to from the Assign To list
Confirm the reassignment in the confirmation popup
The work order is removed from your work list and assigned to the selected user
Reassigning an in-progress work order
Open the work order you have already started
Tap the Re-Assign Work button
Scan the QR code when prompted to mark the work location
Select the user from the Assign To page
Confirm the reassignment to complete the transfer
Tips
The Re-Assign Work button only appears on work orders assigned to you—not on unassigned items
Unassigned work items continue to work the same way as before (you can still pick them up)
The Assign To list shows users at your site who are eligible to receive work orders
Your name will not appear in the Assign To list (you can't reassign to yourself)
Once reassigned, the work order immediately disappears from your work list
Important notes
Note: This feature only applies to standard work orders. Work dispatch items do not have the Re-Assign Work button.
Note: The Re-Assign Work feature requires the feature flag to be enabled for your site. If you don't see the button, contact your administrator.
Warning: If you have started work on a work order (in-progress), you must scan a QR code before reassigning. Have the QR code ready before attempting to reassign in-progress work.
